Cleaning and Storage

When your pen will not be used for a period of time, be sure to empty all ink from the chamber by filling and emptying the pen several times with cool clean water. Do not use hot water! Never use solvents of any kind!

Filling Instructions

I. New Postal Reservoir Pen

  1. Remove the cap from the pen.

  2. Remove the bottom blind cap to expose the filling bulb.

  3. Immerse the point of the pen into your ink supply, making sure that the entire nib and about 1/8" (3 mm) of the gripping section are immersed.

  4. Squeeze and release the filling bulb repeatedly until the reservoir is full, pausing after each release until the bulb has reinflated itself.

  5. Remove the pen from the ink supply.

  6. Carefully wipe off excess ink from section and nib area with soft absorbent cloth, allowing excess ink to be absorbed into the tissue or paper towel.

  7. Replace the blind cap onto the end of the pen.

II. The Belmont Pen

  1. Remove the cap from the pen.

  2. Remove the bottom blind cap to expose the filling plunger.

  3. Immerse the point of the pen into your ink supply, making sure that the entire nib and about 1/8" (3 mm) of the gripping section are immersed.

  4. Push the plunger all the way down to expel air, then pull the plunger all the way up. Wait about two seconds to let the ink fill the reservoir completely.

  5. Remove the pen from the ink supply.

  6. Carefully wipe off excess ink from section and nib area with soft absorbent cloth, allowing excess ink to be absorbed into the tissue or paper towel.

  7. Replace the blind cap onto the end of the pen.

III. The New Dunn Pen

  1. Remove the cap from the pen.

  2. Unscrew the Little Red Pump-Handle (turn counter-clockwise) until it turns freely. Pull it out until it stops.

  3. Immerse the point of the pen into your ink supply, making sure that the entire nib and about 1/8" (3 mm) of the gripping section are immersed.

  4. Push the Little Red Pump-Handle down quickly. Pull it out again and wait 3 seconds. Repeat 12 to 15 times. Push the Little Red Pump-Handle down a final time and screw it back in.

  5. Remove the pen from the ink supply.

  6. Carefully wipe off excess ink from section and nib area with soft absorbent cloth, allowing excess ink to be absorbed into the tissue or paper towel.

  7. Replace the blind cap onto the end of the pen.
